Sophie was born May 10, 1929 in Ukraine and journeyed to Canada with her Mom & Dad (Dymtro & Nellie) and two brothers (John & Joseph) and settled in the Ituna area. Mom married George Holowaty on June 5, 1949. They originally started their farming operating in the Hazel area, then moved to the Abtosway farm in 1959. The two of them purchased a house in town in May 1974 where mom lived until mid November 2016. She then resided in the Foam Lake Nursing Home. Together they raised a family of six children. Gerald (Janet) and their children Rachel Card (Allan Dion), Rhonda (Jeff) Wasyluk, Renee (Sean) Wilson; Anonny (Rita) and their children Paul (Shelly) Holowaty and their children Avah & Austin; Dana Holowaty and son Jacob Radjo; Jamie Holowaty; Irene Cymbalisty (late Joseph) and her children John (Monika) Cymbalisty; April Cymbalisty and her children Asilyn & Aspen Gurski; James (Anna) Cymbalisty and their children Aliyah & Joseph; Diana Holowaty; Kelvin Holowaty (Coleen Berge); Ralph Holowaty (Angela Boyko) and their children Devon Holowaty (son Mason), Brennan Holowaty; Ashley Boyko, Tyler Boyko. Mom’s life was raising her children, working on the farm, her gardens (in town and farm) and her flowers. She leaves to mourn: her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; brothers George (Nettie) Scherbey, Stan Scherbey; sister Zenia Lukey; sisters-in-law Florence Scherbey, Ann Holowaty. She was predeceased by her parents Dymtro & Nellie Scherbey; her husband George; son-in-law Joseph Cymbalisty; brothers John, Joseph, Willie; father-in-law & mother-in-law Wasyl & Nellie Holowaty; in-laws Fred & Ann Holowaty, Alec Holowaty, Rosie Holowaty, Stephen & Annie Antonishyn, Olga Scherbey, Iris Scherbey, Matt Lukey, Nellie Scherbey.
