Obituary
Funeral for the late Louise Holmstrom will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Foam Lake United Church, Foam Lake, Sask. Donation's in memory of Louise may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice. Those wishing to sign the guestbook or leave an online condolence may do so via this website. Louise was born on February 28, 1920 to Oli & Ethel Magnusson on a farm near Mozart, Saskatchewan. She received her education at Mozart School. She married Melvin Holmstrom on April 30, 1939 on a farm in the Osland District. To this union of marriage three boys were born, Robert Melvin in 1940, Kenneth Allan in 1942 and Donald Wayne in 1950. Melvin and Louise settled on a farm in the Fishing Lake district for one year then moved to Vancouver, British Columbia where Melvin worked in the shipyards for two years. They moved back to Kristnes School District in 1942 and began a mixed farming operation and were very active in the Saskatchewan Farmers Union. Louise was a member of the Kristnes Ladies Aid and the secretary/treasurer of the Kristnes Cemetery for over 40 years. In 2001, she moved into a Senior Housing unit in Foam Lake where she lived until her passing. Her favorite times were those spent visiting and keeping track of all the families activities. One of her biggest joys in life was being a grandma (8), great-grandma (22) and a great-great-grandma (2). She enjoyed sitting at her kitchen table drinking coffee and watching all the birds in the yard. She also loved scrabble, word games, reading, knitting, crocheting, baking, and gardening. She always had a project planned for the next day to keep herself busy. She is predeceased by her parents Oli and Ethel; her husband Melvin; her son Don; daughter-in-law Thea; her brothers: Freeman and Elwin; and her sisters: Ethel, Dorothy, and Lillian. She is survived by her son Robert, his family Duane (Lil), Jim (Audra) Jonah and Theodore; her son Ken (Lyla), his family Carla, Riley (Codie) Carsyn and Harper, Joel (Kalen), Patty and Lindsey; Terry (Leanne) Kelly, Dana and Travis; Tracey (Darcy) Jesse, Shelby and Hayley; Dale (Brandie) Ashley, Kyle and Ryan; and daughter-in-law Karen; Lance (Lora) Elizabeth, Ariana and Nadia, Bryan (Amanda) Mikhala, Sean, Isabelle and Natasha. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Dorothy Magnusson and Gertie Magnusson She will be greatly missed by her family, relatives and many close friends.
