He was the youngest child of Wilfred Merle and Kathleen (Shiels) Harkness. He attended the elementary school and the high school in Foam Lake. He participated in minor baseball, high school football, minor and senior hockey, curling and golf. He was involved in the Foam Lake Minor Hockey Association as a coach and as a manager for more than 25 years. He also coached minor baseball and the Senior Flyers Hockey Club. He served as President of the Fishing Lake Hockey League and as the Exalted Ruler of the Foam Lake Elks Lodge. He operated Keith's Cartage for Canadian Pacific Transport for several years. He received recognition for twenty-five years of service at the Foam Lake Jubilee Home in the maintenance department in 2005 and retired in 2010. Keith married Helen Oneschuk on August 7, 1971. He passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Regina General Hospital at the age of 68 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred Merle in 1991, Kathleen in 2001 and by his brother, Edwin, in 2005. He is survived by his wife, Helen, son Keith (Lorrie Anne) and grandchildren, Camden, Madison and Boston Harkness, son Jonathan Harkness, son Jeffrey Harkness, sister Deanna (Fred) Helgason and many relatives and friends.
