Annie Holowaty passed away peacefully at the Foam Lake Jubilee nursing home December 25th, 2020, at the age of 93. Annie was born and raised in West Bend, SK, daughter of the late Joseph and Katharine (nee Popik) Bryksa. She had twelve brothers and sisters and spent much of her youth helping raise her younger siblings. She loved them all dearly. She enjoyed telling stories of her life on the farm, painting a picture of what early Saskatchewan farm life was like. In May of 1947 she married John Holowaty. In 1952 they moved to Foam Lake and raised their 4 children on an acreage just west of town. Mom spent the rest of her life in the community of Foam Lake where she loved to garden, cook and crochet. In 2000, mom and dad bought a small house in town. She was determined to stay in her home as long as possible and it wasn’t until mid December of this year when she moved to the nursing home. Mom will be remembered as warm, kind and enthusiastic about life. She was always practical, resourceful and wise. Her laughter was infectious and she had a great sense of humour. Mom’s door was always open to visitors whom she welcomed with an assortment of good food and lively conversation. She was devoted to family and we will miss her. Annie was predeceased by her loving husband, John, in May of 2014. As well as by her brothers Freddie, Merle (infant), Harry, Steve (WW II), Edwin, Walter, Emil and sisters Olga and Stefania. She is dearly loved and will be missed by her children Larry (Gwynne) Holowaty, Rob (Evelyn) Holowaty, Ralph (Wendy) Holowaty and Annamae (Patrick) McCashin; grandchildren Melissa, Tanya, Jocelyn, Ryan, Kyla and Jamie; great grandchildren Nylah, Sadie, Clark, Ellis, Poppy and Gus; as well as her surviving brother Joseph (Elaine) Bryksa and sisters Myrtle (Aubrey) Marknette and Edna (Mervin) Yaschuk.
