Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Friday, July 7, 2017 Rose Valley Community Hall Rose Valley, Saskatchewan *********************** Mike Yamniuk passed away July 1, 2017 in Wadena, SK. He attended school at the Mallard School by Fosston, SK, there he received his Grade 10 certificate, and from there he enlisted in the Army for a short while, and he also helped with the family farm. Mike went on to marry Donna Bjerland in July 1955, at the Nut Lake Lutheran Church in Rose Valley, SK. Together they bought a home and had 6 children. Everybody had their chores on the family farm, but there were many fun times too, playing cards and visiting with friends and family. Mike and Donna divorced in 1982. Shortly thereafter, he met his dance partner, Doris Mitchell. They went on for the next 30 years and raised their family. Mike also worked for the RM of Ponass Lake from 1975 – 1994 and then retired. Doris and Mike enjoyed travelling to many different places, such as Hawaii and Cuba. They also went on many bus tours, where they met many different people, they also enjoyed visiting with family members. Mike would often take out his harmonica and play it for all. Mike and Doris spent much of their time at the cabin at Barrier Lake with friends and family. Mike is survived by his 5 children Clifford Yamniuk (Jody Langman) of Saskatoon, SK, Kevin (Gloria) Yamniuk of Moose Jaw, Leanne Durack (Ward Nixon) of Regina, Tracy Yamniuk of Regina, and Lisa (Stephen) Botkin of Regina; his 6 stepchildren Leonard (Pat) Mitchell of Carrot River, Barry Mitchell of Maidstone, Alvin Mitchell of Regina, Richard (Jodi) Mitchell of Weyburn, Debbie (Owen) Lee of Winnipeg, Kenny Mitchell(Debbie Hanson) of Carrot River; and by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents Harry and Pearl Yamniuk; spouse Doris Mitchell; brothers John and Nick Yamniuk; sister Mary Wood; daughter Susan Yamniuk; and grandson Jessie Mitchell.
