Obituary
Duncan Alvin Finnie was born July 10,1931 in Wadena, SK to Alex and Justina. He passed away at Kelvindell Lodge, Kelvington, SK, on June 14, 2019, at the age of 87 years. Duncan grew up in the Glen Garif District. Taking schooling to Grade 10. He enjoyed playing ball, track and field in his school years. He worked on the family farm and for two winters he went to Alberta to work on a ranch. In October 1957, he married the love of his life, Marjorie. They had three daughters Terry, Lynn, and Faye. They purchased a ¼ of land and turned it into their home where they lived until 2016, when Duncan’s health failed and they had to move to town. Duncan loved all aspects of farm life. From animals they raised to working the land. He enjoyed watching ball and the races at sports days. Moving cattle to the pasture by horse back, then riding in to check on them every week. Trail rides, playing cards, and having his family and friends visit. He was a member of the Kelvington Agriculture Society and manned the gate for the show ring for many years. He milked a lot of cows, butchered a lot of pigs, baled and stacked a lot of hay. He loved to eat and take his afternoon naps. He was predeceased by his parents; sister Ester (Bill) Pushie; brothers Irvan, Lloyd, and Floyd (Una). Duncan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie; daughters Terry (Stan) Krzak, Lynn (Moe) Ash, and Faye (Rick) Lillebo; grandchildren Josh, Andy (Abby), Cassie (Scott), Marsha (Jeremy), Lornie (Terri), and Chris (Joe); great grandchildren Raina, Kahleigha, Dameon, Isabella, Tia, Hannah, and Addalyn; sister-in-law Ruby; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His family will always remember his smile, ability to recite poems and old toast. Duncan will be missed by all.
