Obituary
Effie Penteluke (Sucholotoky) was born on March 24th, 1928, the daughter of Fred and Bella Sucholotoky. She grew up on the farm in the Insinger/Sheho area, attending school at Deer Creek. She left school early to take various jobs while helping on the family farm. It was there that she met her future husband Nick Penteluke, and they were married on October 15th, 1950. They started their lives together living at a teacherage at Deer Creek School, eventually moving to Foam Lake in 1961 where they have resided ever since. Mom was a dedicated homemaker, mother of 5, an active member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and a Ladies Aide volunteer for nearly 30 years. The challenges of growing up during the Depression taught mom phenomenal resourceful skills for ‘living off the land’. She loved to garden and for many years even had two large gardens that were the envy of many gardeners. She loved to pick wild berries and mushrooms creating preserves of all sorts. She was a wonderful cook and prided herself with her cabbage roll and perogy making skills. Mom enjoyed taking her garden goods along with her crochet/knitting crafts to different markets around the community and became so well known that people would come to her door asking for items. Effie was predeceased by her parents Fred (1964) and Bella (1997); sisters Nettie (1992), Ann (2011), Sylvia (2013); brothers Billy (1968) and John (2014). Effie leaves behind countless memories to help celebrate her life. She leaves behind her husband Nick of 68 years, her daughter Lorraine (Mike) Malone, Calgary; grandsons Sean (2 great grandsons) and Mark, sons Garry (Marianne) Penteluke, Calgary; grandson Ryan, Daren Penteluke, Ottawa; granddaughters Nicole and Natasha, Kyle (Kathy) Penteluke, Saskatoon; grandson Evan, Lyle Penteluke, Saskatoon and her sister Mary Woroshelo, Sheho.
