Obituary
The family of Brian Kirk Donald of Jansen, Sk are saddened to announce his sudden passing on November 12, 2016 at a place close to Edmonton, AB that he recently grew to love. He was predeceased by his mother, Eileen (Naff) Donald, his sister Carol Donald, brother Glenn Donald; maternal grandparents, Leonard and Lydia Naff; fraternal grandparents, Samuel and Caroline Donald; father-in-law Christopher Holte; mother-in-law, Margaret Holte and special brother-in-law, and good friend Jack Dvernichuk. Brian was born to Ernie and Eileen (Naff) Donald on December 2, 1955 at his grandparents farm as the snow had blocked the roads. He attended grades one to seven at Kelvington, and grades eight to twelve in Wadena; graduating in 1974. It was there that he met the love of his life Gail Holte. Brian and Gail were married on March 14, 1975 and were blessed with two children Nikki and Chris. Both whom he was very proud of and you couldn't run into him without hearing a story about either of them. Brian worked at many jobs throughout his life starting when he was in high school at the Feedlot by Kylemore, SK. After graduation he installed glass windows at many downtown Saskatoon businesses, worked on the rigs and built roads. He was also a cattle buyer for InterContinental Packers in Regina, SK. Brian received his Insurance and Real Estate license and worked at both for many years in Wadena, SK. Recently he worked at a seed cleaning plant by Dafoe, SK until his health caused him to retire. Farming also gave Brian great happiness and he did so for many years with his dad and brother Glenn. He could often be found out for a cruise, with the window down to check crops. Brian loved to spend time with his family and friends; especially at the lake camping, fishing, golfing and sitting around the campfire reminiscing with family and old friends. He was involved with 4H for many years, grew up loving sports such as football, track and field, curling, fastball with the Rosebud Royals (being one of the first members); but mainly hockey, playing and coaching the Wadena Wildcats. Even the camper had to be a Wildcat! Brian was easy going, generous and kind; you could often catch him humming a tune. He loved to tease; especially his nieces and nephews who fondly called him Uncle B. We will all miss his one of a kind sense of humour and the twinkle in his eyes right before you got one of his famous one liners or original acronyms. Brian will be deeply and lovingly missed by his wife and best friend Gail of Jansen,SK; daughter Nikki (Gerry) Rorick of Rosetown, SK; son Chris (April) Donald of Warman, SK; father Ernie Donald of Wadena, SK; brother and sisters-in-law Myron Holte (Sharon) of Wadena, SK, Mavis (Dwayne) Bobinski of Wadena, SK, Glynis Dvernichuk of Lanigan,SK and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins. We the family of Brian would like to express our sincere gratitude and will be forever grateful to Dr. R MacArthur and Dr. D Modry and all the staff at the Mazankowski Heart Institute. We thank God for his life and the blessing of the time we spent with Brian. At Brian's request, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of Brian's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian's memory may be made to the Saskatchewan SPCA or the Mazankowski Heart Institute. Our heartfelt thanks to Harold, Karol, Brittanny, Brianna and all the staff of Narfason's for the care, compassion, patience and kindness shown to Brian and all of us. As well as to everyone else for their thoughts and prayers.
