Obituary
Ellen Peeace Ellen Delores Peeace went to be with her creator on September 5, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer at the Regina General Hospital . Ellen was born on October 20, 1940 to Dorothy and Patrick Wahpeepiness, on the Fishing lake First Nation. After growing up on Fishing Lake, Ellen worked in numerous locations in the surrounding area and settled in Yorkton with Paul Pidhorodetsky and their son Leon (David). They had a happy life enjoying camping, travelling, visiting family and always enjoyed opening their home to family and friends alike. Tragedy entered her life when her Mother died in March of 1984 followed by the love of her life Paul in May. She continued in Yorkton raising her son and stayed until he graduated and went to University. She moved back to Wadena to be close to her family. She kept busy with family and working at Yellow Quill and Fishing Lake first nation. She then moved to Fort Qu’Appelle in 1996 to help look after her first grandchild Jacqueline and then second grand daughter Jaiden. She then followed her son and family when they moved to Estevan to continue to be the doting grandmother she was. Ellen was quick to share about how proud she was of her granddaughters to anyone she met. Always the caring and compassionate sister she then moved back to Fishing Lake to help with the care of her siblings. Over the next several years she was there to help as their health failed. First with the passing of her younger brother Joseph (John), then older brother Daniel (Lawrence) and sisters Mary and Alice (Maggie). After giving so much in the help of her family she then entered her own battle with cancer this past year. Ellen leaves to celebrate her life and memory: her son David (Lisa)Peeace granddaughters Jacqueline and Jaiden ; her nephews Corwin Buffalo (son Cory), Leroy Buffalo (son DJ) and Darryl Buffalo ( sons Jesse, James). In addition, she leaves behind many other relatives and friends. Always with a warm smile, Ellen will be remembered as a quiet loving presence that made everyone feel encouraged, loved and welcomed. Quick to laugh and gentle in nature, she always thought of others no matter the circumstance. Even in the middle of pain and suffering in her struggle with cancer, she consistently touched the hearts of her nurses and doctors with her grace and peace. Ellen radiated the love of her Saviour. Ellen was deeply loved, and leaves behind a legacy of peace, resilience and compassion. She would be honoured if we all follow her example of extending the same kindness and love to others.
