Obituary
Orest Onufreychuk passed away peacefully in the Yorkton Hospital on August 5, 2018. Orest was born in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan on February 10, 1945 to Steve and Olga Onufreychuk. Orest grew up on a farm south of Sheho and attended Deer Creek School. When he was 18, he went to Regina to upgrade and achieved his 1-A license, then obtained a job hauling bulk milk in Edenwold, SK. He then came home and drove a school bus and helped out of the family farm. Orest purchased his own farm south of Sheho where he would raise his family and farm with his father Steve and brother Rudy. Orest wasn’t scared to try anything from raising hogs, coral cleaning, painting, trucking cattle, horses, grain and gravel ( called Double O Trucking), even chariot racing. Orest was also a good cook. His homemade sausage and Chinese food were legendary. Orest was considered a wheeler dealer and that is how he acquired his name Haynee. he enjoyed hosting wagon treks on his acreage by Willowbrook, SK which would be attended by many of his close friends and family. He loved his horses and auction sales and he was known to get to the mic and auctioneered a time or two. Orest was a rodeo clown for the Sheho rodeo. He was also a councillor for the RM of Insinger and a member of Sheho Lions Club. He worked for many construction companies (Hardybala, Norguard, K-line, Wappel and Fedorowich) where he met many life-long friends. He worked for Triple 7 Trucking and for farmers around the Yorkton, Willowbrook area trucking grain and also helping with seeding, bailing and combining. Orest was a humble and kind person. He loved to host and make sure his guests never left hungry or thirsty. Everywhere Orest went, he met new friends and always created a new memory with each of them that will never be forgotten. Orest was a special person and was never a stranger to anyone. His hearty chuckle will always be remembered. Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life is his son, Curtis Onufreychuk, daughter-in-law, Pam Onufreychuk and grandson, Roland Onufreychuk of Calgary, AB; and his daughter, Carmen Sokochoff, son-in-law, Ken Sokochokk, granddaughters, Peyton Sokochoff and Kenna Sokochoff and grandson, Dylan Sokochoff of White City, SK.
