Obituary
William Andrew Chorney passed away peacefully on March 10, 2020. He was born on October 15, 1939 to Andrew and Annie Chorney. He grew up with his brother Nick and sisters Mary, Doris and Helen. He received his elementary education at Ponass Lake School and graduated high school from St. Joseph’s Collegiate in Yorkton, Saskatchewan in 1959. William went on to attain a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a Masters of Education Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. William married Linda Evenson in 1964 and together they raised five sons Howard, who makes his home in Regina,SK. Raymond, who lives in Edmonton, AB. Gregory and Monica (Polachek) who live at Katepwa Beach. Robert and Kim (Hurren) and David and Dawn (Beaton) who all live in Calgary, Alberta. William was a proud and loving grandfather to eight grandchildren, Cory and Howie (Howard), Torrin, Aryssa and Griffin (Gregory), Jared (Robert) and Drew and Mya (David). William was an adventurer. He felt life was meant to be lived and experienced. He and Linda moved and lived in many places in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Mexico and Ontario. Together with their family, they lived life to the fullest. The outdoors, sports and music were passions that were second only to his love for his family. In addition to teaching, William worked in many provincial and federal managerial positions. William was a mentor whose advice and guidance were requested by many of his family, friends and professional colleagues. Upon his retirement, William and Linda volunteered their services at the Trapper’s Lake Spirituality Center in Yellowknife, NWT and then as pastoral workers at a project in Jocotepec, Mexico. This led to him attending the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Seminary in Ottawa, Ontario where he was ordained into the Deaconate. He was active in both the Ukrainian Catholic and Roman Catholic Church. He led lodge services, was actively involved with the Knights of Columbus, spent summers working at St. Michaels Camp and assisted with numerous other church activities. William loved the Lord and chose to serve Him in many ways.
