Obituary
John was born November 1, 1928 at Bankend, SK. He was the fourth child of John and Francis Kreklevich. He attended school at Bankend and Coleraine finishing Grade 10. He left school to help his ailing dad on the farm. After his dad passed away he left the farm and went to work at Burns in Prince Albert, but the plant burnt down so he moved to Regina where he worked as a mailman. Here he met the love of his life Virginia Kitzul. After a lengthy courtship they were married in October 1956. After a lot of persuasion by Virginia's dad they moved back to Foam Lake and settled on the Kitzul farm in November 1959. John loved the farm and together they raised three children: Nolan, Wanda and Kevin. John was very active in the community. He took part in getting petitions signed, so that they could get SaskTel in the Rural. After many meetings it finally became real in 1970. He was also an avid member of the Orthodox community in the capacity of Treasurer, later as President for 28 years. He was on the board when the Sunset Hall was built and worked hard to keep it going, calling bingo, being janitor and president at the same time. It broke his heart when the hall was sold. John and Virginia moved into town in 1986. He semi-retired from the farm, but loved to go out and help Kevin and Angie in the spring and at harvest or just going out for a cup of coffee. Being with his grandkids was his greatest joy. He was always ready to chauffer Nolan, Nicole and Michael. He was always readto go get them from the school or take them to a football game. He loved his grandkids. Johnny's hobbies were farming, playing cards and reading. Every day for years he read the Leader Post from front to back! Even in the nursing home Virginia would give him the Leader Post and she would slip away without him making a fuss. Every Saturday night you could find Virginia and Johnny dancing to the Saturday Night Dance Party music on the radio. He loved to visit Wanda and Steve, especially when Steve took him fishing and they would fish off the floats of the plane or ice fishing, even if he did get wet. In June of 2013 he suffered a stroke and had to make his home at the Foam Lake Jubilee Home. He never lost his sense of humour or laughter, he always smiled or laughed with the staff there. He was predeceased by his son Nolan, his father, John, mother Francis, brothers Ed and Bernie, sister Ann, two infant siblings; brother Malcolm, sister Anastasia and brothers-in-law: Tom, Victor and Russ. He will be missed by his wife Virginia, daughter Wanda (Steve), son Kevin (Angie), grandsons Michael and Nolan, granddaughter Nicole; sisters Mary, Margaret, Natalie (Metro), Evelyn (Metro), sisters-in-law: Roseanna, Mary, Pauline (Ernie), Marieanne (Ron), nephews, nieces, grand nieces and nephews.
