At the tender age of two she immigrated to Canada with two older siblings, and her parents Maria and John Pratchler. Mary and Ernest were married in Muenster, SK on October 24, 1945. They built a house on his parent’s farm and lived there for about 5 years. Then they built a house on their own land a half a mile south of Champlain School. In August 1957, they moved their house to Naicam where Ernest and his brother Adolph had purchased the International Harvester Agency. Mary loved to garden. She would experiment with different flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees to observe their growth habits. In addition to her green thumb, Mary displayed a talent for cake decorating. G-Ma, as she was fondly known to all her grandkids, loved nothing better than to spend time with all of them. G-Ma was delighted to entertain visitors no matter what she was busy doing, even if it was a surprise visit. In her later years… bingo, playing cards, and puzzling were some of her favorite pastimes. Her visitors at the lodge were the highlight of her day. The staff there were all very attached to Mary. She touched many lives with her kindness and sense of humour. G-Ma passed peacefully on November 1, 2020 at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest Draude, her parents Maria and John Pratchler, her brothers Joe, Andrew and Matt, her sisters Gisella Draude and Apolonia Schlosser and her grandson Christopher. Those left to mourn Mary are, her children Andy (June), Mary Smith (Al – deceased), Helen Anderson, Fred (Lorna), Monica Tvetene (Clay Gregory), Tony (Pat), Peter, Lucy, Nancy Boser (Dave) and many Grandchildren along with their spouses and Great Grandchildren, her brothers John (Agnes), Leo and sister Agnes Aikins, sisters in law Marie and Katie Pratchler,and her brother in law Francis (Mary) Draude.
