Bill was a man of words. That’s how we met. At a time like this it’s hard to find the right words to say. And he always had a smile - at Emma Lake & other writers’ colonies. I remember him fondly and will think of him when I next set pen to paper, and I send my condolences to his family.

Dear Glenis and family, I'm so saddened to hear about Bill and so deeply sorry for your loss. Just two days ago, while visiting friends on the West Coast we shared fond memories of the Writers/Artists colonies at Emma Lake--and dancing in Bill's cabin. May we all remember his warmth, generosity and his laugh!

Bill and I were in the same law school class and as small town lawyers we have had a few common files over the years. I always enjoyed conversations with Bill; he was a much deeper thinker than I. I am so sorry to hear of his untimely passing. My deepest sympathy Glenis and family.

We share in a profound community sadness with the news of Bill's passing. Our hearts go out to all family and friends, both in sadness and in celebration of life. I was fortunate to work with Bill recently on his book project, Farm Works, which I see as his personal statement of celebration and struggle, a creative celebration in which engagement with the land, the family and the community together forge a personal poetic of forever love.

Our condolences to Glenis and family. We were so terribly sad to hear about Bill's untimely and tragic passing. We will always remember him with a friendly smile on his face. Bill was a wonderful, warm and good man. He was a smart and compassionate lawyer and a great writer. I will be forever grateful for Bill's help and friendship when I was starting out as a lawyer in Saskatchewan. He welcomed me into his law practice and was unfailingly kind and generous over the years. We are so sorry for for your loss and hope that it is of some comfort to know how many lives Bill touched along the way, including ours. RIP Bill. We are sorry we can't make it tomorrow but you will be in our thoughts tomorrow and forever.

As one of Bill's early publishers, I can say that meeting and knowing Bill was one of the most rewarding aspects of being a literary publisher. Bill was a pleasure to be with and with whom to share ideas. Just as our lives have been enriched by his presence, we are the poorer for his passing. My sincere condolences to all of his family.

Condolences to family and friends. I enjoyed working with Bill when he served on the Board of the Saskatchewan Council of Cultural Organizations and later the Saskatchewan Arts Board. He played an important role in protecting the interests of the cultural community during the period of the Arts Strategy Task Force and the subsequent dialogue that led to later provincial policy developments that continue to shape and benefit arts and culture in Saskatchewan to this day.

I am struck with melancholy by Bill’s (Billy) passing. Our relationship predates adolescent years, stemming from a business association between our fathers, and later fostered through familial interaction. We shared reciprocating summer stays, epitomizing the “Country and City Mouse” adage. Homemade sling shots, bow and arrows, medieval swords, swimming lessons, ‘golf’ at Fishing Lake, and “peaches” filled our days. Today, I retrieved Billy’s Grade 12 Grad Gift – a “piggy bank” stressing the need to save for retirement. We rarely saw each other due to our life trajectories’ and geographic locations, but that did not restrict exchanging greetings and updates through others. Life events are fleeting moments in time, but the memories created are indelible. To Glenis and family, I hope that you find comfort in the present and future joy through your ‘memories’. Farewell my friend! RIP!

Sympathies and prayers to all of you in Bill's family. When we moved here in 2013 he made a point of introducing himself to me, which I remember, and that he knew my brother, Bernie. I know him, too, from his writing. In "Pilot," he shares his grief at his father's death. Those feelings now can be expressed back to him, "... now I stand here under the heavy / sky, tears wetting my grown man cheeks."
