Obituary
A Celebration of life was held for Iris on Saturday, October 13th at 2:00 p.m. in the Foam Lake United Church. Inurnment to follow in the Foam Lake Town Cemetery. Those wishing to make tokens of rememberance may do so to the Foam Lake United Church. Iris (Burnett) Scutchings was born in Troon Aryshire, Scotland, on July 27th, 1909, the eldest child of Andrew and Beatrice Burnett. When Iris was 17 years old, the family immigrated to Canada and settled in the Mt. Hecla area to farm. In 1928 Iris married Bert Scutchings where they settled and farmed in the Mt. Hecla area. In the 1930s, during the war years, they moved to Toronto where Iris worked for Precision Tools. Finally, they returned home to the Mt. Hecla area and had three children- Dennis, Bryan and Lynn. In 1958 Iris went to work at Crawfords Chicken Plant where she stayed in Wynyard during the week and travelled home on the weekends. In 1963 they sold the farm and moved to Foam Lake. In 1969 Iris started cooking at the Nursing Home and later at the Hospital until she retired. Iris family has grown considerably over the years. Her three children blessed her with 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with each and every one of them - never missing a Christmas or Birthday greeting. She was truly blessed and lived a long and full life. She was predeceased by her husband Bert, son Bryan, son-in-law John, her parents, brothers Eric and Jack and sister Jean. She is survived by her son Dennis (Peggy), daughter Lynn, daughter-in-law Faye and her special friend Ralph, sisters Audrey James and Irene Erlendson, as well as 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
