Alex Kuprowski, beloved husband of the late Kate Kuprowski (Woroniuk), passed away peacefully at the Gateway Lodge in Canora, Saskatchewan, at the age of 92 on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Alex attended Pohorlowitz School to grade 4 and then worked on the family farm near Sheho. He later worked in a lumber camp near Carrot River during the winter and it was there that he met Katie. They were married in 1946. Alex and Katie worked as equal partners on the farm south of Sheho and they enjoyed the rural farm life that involved much work. They left the farm and moved on to an acreage and semi-retired. Later, a move was made into the village. Alex enjoyed fishing at Good Spirit Lake, sitting by the fire, and sharing stories with family and friends. He was also a keen card player and liked nothing better than a competitive game of Kaiser and a glass of locally made refreshment. Alex was predeceased by his wife Katie, his mother Dokia and father John. Sisters, Annie, Mary, Pearl and brothers: George, Steve, Matt, Pete and Bill. He is survived by his sister Bella; and his sisters-in-law Louis (Al) Krakowski and Ella Woroniuk; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was a unique character and will be fondly remembered as such.
