Obituary
In Loving Memory of Carol Willen Carol Gertrude (nee Forster) Willen was born December 24, 1940 to Claude and Leona (Reiter) Forster. Carol spent her childhood on the farm North West of Annaheim, SK. She attended Schuler School in the country until grade 8 and correspondence for grade 9. After school she was a nanny to many families in the community. As a teenager she proudly played fastball as a catcher for the Annaheim Rockets. During family practice Carol's nose was broken by a miss swing of the bat by her sister Delphine. The Annaheim Rockets were considered to be one of the top teams in the league until the career ending car accident that the whole team was involved in. It resulted in one death and many injured. Carol and her two sisters, Delphine and Margery were seriously injured. After working in Saskatoon for five years, Carol moved home to work in the Humboldt Hospital. Soon after starting to work in Humboldt she got re-acquainted with an old boy friend, Eugene Willen. Carol and Eugene were married October 10, 1964 in Lake Lenore, SK. Lionel was born in July, 1965, Todd followed in December, 1966, Karlene in April, 1969 and Laurina in July, 1970. After their family was complete, they packed up and moved to Foam Lake, SK where they bought a hotel/bar with Olga and Verle Stuckel. They later bought a clothing store in 1976 and the farm in 1977.This was followed by purchasing Ituna Motor Inn in 1987 where they met a whole new family of friends. Carols dream of farm life and gardening came true in 1986 when they built a house and moved to the farm. This is where she spent countless hours planting trees, planting gardens and flower beds. Carols love and support for her kids found her driving and volunteering to all different types of activities and events. Carol's local fame was for her bread, buns, cinnamon buns and pies. She still found time for herself to support some of the local organizations like CWL, Royal Purple, and Lioness Club. Carol has many great memories of travelling with friends to places like Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and Nashville to watch her favorite musicians Grandpa Jones and Minnie Pearl, among others. In between her travels she was always glad to get home to her kids, her garden and her favorite fishing rods. As the years went on, she was proudly blessed with 8 grandchildren. Carol's battle with osteo-arthritis and COPD ended peacefully in her sleep on October 31, 2021. She will be missed by her husband of 57 years, Eugene Willen, her children Lionel (Debbie Koropatnicki), Todd (Leann) Willen, Karlene (Roy) Balkwill, Laurina (Roger Marciniuk) Willen; her grandchildren Troy Balkwill, Logan Balkwill, Landon (Danielle Cousin) Balkwill, Chris (Stephanie Schmidt), Tori (Jesse Sturgess), Dylan Bateman, Dustin (Josie Schell) Marciniuk and Dalton Marciniuk. She is also survived by Dennis (Lorraine) Forster, Ray (Gloria) Meyer, Lorna (Tom) Dietz, and Randy (Ann) Forster. Carol is predeceased by her parents, Claude and Leona Forster, her sisters Delphine Meyer and Margery and Simon Lizee.
