Obituary
Pauline (Polly) Kizlyk was born in the Fosston District. She is the oldest daughter of Paul and Antonia Kizlyk. Polly lived with her parents and son Bill, on the family farm helping with farming, growing large gardens and tending to livestock. Shortyly after the passing of her father Paul, Polly moved to Fosston and began a long career in commercial cooking in the Nipawin hopital and later, the resturant and hotel industry. Her career took her to Fosston, Nipawin, Kelvington, and Rose Valley. Life as a single mother was hard. She persevered through the hard times, and enjoyed many good times with family and friends. Polly retired in Rose Valley, SK (where she lived for 24 years) providing her the opportunity to make thousands and thousands of perogies for community events, weddings, cafe's and of course, her family and friends. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, sewing, and knitting. She cherished visits from her family, her animals and in early years a good Saturday night hockey game. Friday nights however were saved for Bingo at the community hall with her sister Amelia. Bingo sometimes required a road trip to Fosston and when jackpots were big, the sister travelled all the way to Wadena. She had a sharp mind that could caculate a grocery bill with applicable taxes long before the cash register tallied the total. Her house was always open to her grandchildren's pets that for one reason or another needed a Grandma's love. Heidi (dog) and Feebee (cat) joined the list of animals loved by Grandma and they enjoyed daily coffee breaks at 10 and 3 which included coffee with lots of milk. they shared her love and food with many stray cats that she cared for. SHe lived her last two decades in Wadena, first on her own and then in the Wadena HOspital and the Pleasantview Nursing Home. Polly is predeceased by her parents Paul and Antonia, her son Bill (Billy) Kizlyk, siblings (and in-laws) Peer and (Olga) Kizlyk, Amelia and (Fred) Maryniak, Lena and (Alex) Kryzanowski, Bill and (Anna) Kizlyk, Ann and (Bill) Nickolet, and sister-in-law Mary Kizlyk. She is survived by daughter-in-law Josie Kizlyk of Regina, grandsons Brent (Melanie) Kizlyk of Lloyminister, AB; Wray (Maureen) Kizlyk pf Langley, BC; Granddaughter Regan Kizlyk of Regina, SK; and Great grandchildren Ryan Kizlyk of Langley, BC and Hessalynn Kizlyk currently of Regina, SK.
