Obituary
In Loving Memory of Barry Edward Johannesson Barry Edward Johannesson was born in Wynyard, SK, on August 10, 1951 to Johannes and Phyllis (Whitehead) Johannesson. He passed away peacefully on December 10, 2021 at the Wynyard hospital with family at his side. He attended Grandy School until it's closing, then finished his schooling in Wynyard, SK, graduating in 1970. Through his pre-teen and teen years he was a member of the 4-H Beef Club and became a leader in future years. Barry volunteered for the Wynyard Ducks Unlimited Chapter for over thirty years and attended many banquets in Wynyard and other communities where he always had a great time. After graduation, he continued his education taking an air conditioning course at Kelsey in Saskatoon, but farming was in his blood. He returned to the family farm, where he continued to farm for many years raising both grain and cattle. He decided to pursue a trucking career in winter months, the cattle were sold and he started his career as a truck driver, running double with his buddy Bernie down to California, USA, to bring back produce to Canada. He continued to grain farm in the summers. When he had enough of farming, he then hauled grain, driving B- trains working for Craig and Brenda for a few years. He also worked for Bob Webb and Dale Bolt helping on the farm. His last job was working for the R.M. as a pest control officer until his retirement. Barry lived on the farm until 2010 when he was forced to move the house due to water issues. He enjoyed the town life, but also enjoyed cruising out in the country either by himself or with any of his buddies that had time to go along. He liked to spend time visiting the farm that is now turned into a beautiful campground. He would spend hours “shooting the breeze” with anyone who had the time, in between his crossword puzzles. He loved to fish and big-game hunt, and spending time in his man-cave, in the garage, where he spent many hours this past summer refinishing his tool chest. He organized all the tools and had to purchase another tool chest so he could organize his “Prized” knife collection. He shared his love for hunting and fishing with nephews. Barry also looked forward to the weekly suppers with Tom and Bonnie. There were many laughs, and if anybody was wondering what was being discussed, even towards the end, when he could no longer get out of bed, he wanted to go for supper and when asked if he thought this could happen, his response was, “Tom has lots of equipment”. Barry is predeceased by: his parents, Joe and Phyllis Johannesson; in law parents, Ed and Blanche Broad; bother-in-law John Lachica and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
