In Loving Memory of Leonard Kulbatski It is with great sadness the family of Leonard Kulbatski announces his passing, after a courageous 3rd and final battle with cancer. Leonard passed away on Friday December 17, 2021 at the Tisdale Hospital, he was 83 years old. Leonard was born October 15, 1938, in Rose Valley, SK to Angus and Mary Kulbatski. He grew up on the family farm north of Rose Valley and attended Rose Valley School. At the young age of 16, Leonard entered the work force, initially working in lumber mills in British Columbia and then Hudson Bay before returning to Rose Valley the following year to work as a farmhand for local producers. While still working for a local farmer in 1961, he began farming some of his own acres. Leonard courted and fell in love with Anita Bjerland, they were married at Nut Lake Lutheran Church on June 12, 1961. Leonard and Anita were blessed with 3 children. Pamela, born November 6,1966, Chad, born December 13, 1975 and Bonnie, born August 4, 1978. In 1975, Leonard purchased the homestead north of Rose Valley where he grew up. Shortly after that he and Anita built their new home there, where Anita still resides today. Leonard actively farmed until 2000. Besides farming for himself, he also worked off the farm in the winter months. He worked with survey crews in Alberta and ran the Rose Valley arena for several winters, which meant Leonard was always busy. After he retired from farming his land, he stayed active in the industry for many years. Until the fall of 2020, and the age of 82 he worked spring and fall for the Ziola family of Margo, SK. He was recently recognized for 26 yyears of service working on a casual basis as a guard at the Rose Valley detachment of the RCMP. For many years, Leonard was actively engaged in the Rose Valley community, he served on the local Hall Board, was Chairman of Minor Sports and spent many hours at the rink in his earlier years, when he officiated hockey. For over ten years, Leonard and Anita were able to spend a portion of their winters in Arizona, which they thoroughly enjoyed and made many wonderful friends.
