We wish to pay tribute to the Al Cherney of Wadena, SK. Al was an interesting person who will long be remembered.
Al was an exceptional teacher. He knew how to get the students' attention. In all seriousness, he might tell them a story which was not totally logical. One such story was about the dense fog on the Atlantic Coast. The fog was so dense, he explained, fellows would make fog balls to be used like snowballs. Students did not want to be caught napping through a story like that. Al could motivate his music class, both girls and boys, to sing with gusto. Because of his skills, Al was frequently called upon to act as Master of Ceremonies.
Al was a valuable staff member, first in the Elementary School and then at the High School. He always led in the Remembrance Day services. He was a good community member, a good neighbor and a loyal friend.
Al was devoted to his family. He took great interest in their activities and successes. He delighted in talking about their most recent events.
Today, we remember AL. It is wonderful to be virtually together with you, the entire Cherney family. May all your good memories of Al and Eunice, Dad and Mom, Grandpa and Grandma sustain you. May we soon meet again in person.
Lillian and Elmer Kelln and Family.
(Doug, Daryl, Rob, Brenda and Marylou were Al's students.)
