Saturday, June 18, 2022 St. Pauls Lutheran Church Wadena, SK In Loving Memory of Allan Cherney June 17, 1925 – March 7, 2022 With cherished memories and saddened hearts, the family announces the passing of Allan Cherney on Monday, March 7, 2022 in Wadena at Pleasant View Care Home at the age of 96 years. Allan is survived by his four children: Lisa Krewda (Max), Darcy Cherney (Marcia), Pam Pawluk (Travis), Braden Cherney (Anne); eight grandchildren: Meagan (Ben), Danielle (Todd), Jordan (Gina), Janelle, Kaitlyn, Brett, Emma, Morgan; and six great-grandchildren: Rylee, Louie, Blake, Leo, Kaia, Ari He was predeceased by his loving wife and best friend of over 50 years, Eunice whom he thought of each and every day since her passing in 2009. Allan grew up in Theodore where he graduated from Grade 12. After High School he joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served in the Atlantic out of Halifax until the Second World War ended. Allan was very proud of his involvement with the Royal Canadian Legion and his honorary life membership. Dad’s career path drew him back to education and he trained to become a teacher. Eunice and Allan made Wadena their home over 60 years ago. He taught over twenty years in Wadena and many still called him, Mr. Cherney. He dedicated much time to school activities outside of the classroom as well. He was very active in the Wadena United Church with an emphasis as a member of the choir. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing, reading and playing cards. Everything he did with care and was always trying for a laugh with his great sense of humour. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Pleasant View Care Home and Weneeda Park Lodge for their special care and attention given to Dad. Those wishing to make memorial donations in memory of Allan may do so to Pleasant View Resident Council P.O. Box 10 Wadena, SK S0A 4J0.
