My Grandmother shared so much of herself with others. One summer in my youth I had the privilege of spending a week with her during summer break while Grandpa was in the fields. We ventured off to Lake Edward for the day for a picnic and a swim. The lake was particularly algae filled that summer…when we arrived home that late afternoon she suggested I shower to make sure I wasn’t itchy. Under my swimsuit was an exact replica of my swimsuit but in algae. We had a great laugh and story to tell. I won the Grade 5 back to school writing contest that year with our summer adventure!! I will miss her “Betty face” when she didn’t approve; have embraced her love of her flower gardens and will be forever thankful that she was MY little Gramma.
