Obituary
Richard was born February 15, 1947 to Walter and Pauline Paley (Hoffman) at the Foam Lake Union Hospital. He was the only son with three sisters, one older and two younger. Richard grew up on the family farm North East of Tuffnell helping with the farming operation as well as the numerous turkeys and Polled Herefords that his dad had. Richard attended school at Dunrobin, Tuffnell and Foam Lake. Upon graduation in 1966, he went to work for the Department of Highways for the summers and then went to Port Alberni to work in the pulp and saw mills for the winter months. When he was home for the summer months, he continued to farm as well. In 1979, he started working for Ducks Unlimited in Melfort and continued there till 1986, when his position was terminated and he started farming full time. Richard married Joan Hanson on August 23, 1980. When Joan obtained employment at the Royal Bank in Foam Lake in June of 1987, they moved their mobile home to Tuffnell. Richard and Joan added to their family in April of 1991 with the addition of Carine and Jade in January of 1996. Richard loved to hunt deer, elk, and moose with his buddies up north of Lintlaw and by Hudson Bay. Many interesting stories and memories came out of those hunting trips!!! Along with lots of laughs!! Richard also loved to travel. He and Joan travelled to Mexico, Hawaii, Curacao and Costa Rica before the girls arrived and then took a few trips to Mexico with the girls. He also went on a few fishing trips to Mexico with some of his guy friends. Richard leaves to mourn his wife, Joan of 40 years, daughter Carine (Clayton) Waldbauer, and Jade; sister Jane (Edward) Osicki of Red Deer and Debbie (Neal) of Foam Lake, nephews and nieces, and many close and long time friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Pauline Paley, Sister Judy and brother-in-law, Tom Campbell. A private family service will be held at a later date with interment at the Roman Catholic cemetery west of Sheho. Donations may be made to the Sheho Legion or charity of one's choice. Our family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to everyone for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers during Richard’s battle with cancer. We are so grateful to the staff at the Wynyard Hospital for the wonderful care given to Richard. A big thank you goes out to Narfason's Funeral Chapel. Private Family Service at a later date.
