Gord was such a delight to meet. A spark of rich humanity. He was a dear friend - we connected first in Rae-Edzo NWT where we taught together in 1971-2 over 50 years ago. My wife Olwen and I remember him as a warm, cheerful, person full of the joy - living life to its fullest. We all only met again once - on his homestead in Saskatchewan - with his lovely and delightful wife, Joylene, and we were introduced to their close family - but that indelible power of his sparkle, his warmth, his smile and radiant joy was still there. Even though we were miles apart and shredded by decades of our individual separate lives, I still felt the enduring warmth of our lifelong friendship. I can still hear his chuckle - echoing in my mind. I’m so, so glad to have known him in the prime of our lives. So, so sad he has left us. C’est La vie: at our age we expect such things, but nonetheless, his passing has revealed an abyss in our hearts.
