Obituary of Ronnie Chaykoski
In Loving Memory Of Ron Chaykoski
Ronnie Dale Chaykoski - Son, Brother, Grandson, Uncle, Cousin, Nephew, and a Kind Gentle Friend to so many. Ronnie Dale Chaykoski, was born in Foam Lake, SK on April 27, 1956 to parents Katie and Nick Chaykoski. Ron, the baby of the family of four boys, lived on the family farm for the first three years of his life. The Chaykoski family moved to the Town of Foam Lake in 1959. Upon completion of his education, Ron entered the workforce holding various positions, and then enrolled in the Recreation Technology program at SIAST - Kelsey Campus obtaining a Diploma in Recreation Technology in 1989. After a brief period working as a Recreation Programmer, he landed a management position with the Concession Company at the Sasktel Centre (formerly Sask Place) in Saskatoon. After numerous years in this position, Ron was diagnosed with Parkinsons, which ultimately forced him out of the workforce to concentrate on battling the disease.
Ron held close his friends and family throughout his lifetime. He cultivated his relationships through his passion for hockey, hunting, sailing, socializing and other numerous activities, which resulted in so many close, special friendships during his time. During his prime, Ron was an amazing athlete, especially on the hockey ice. He was a prolific goal scorer and won both Fishing Lake Hockey League scoring titles and championships. Right up until his passing, Ron maintained keen interest in his beloved Foam Lake Flyers Senior Hockey and NHL Edmonton Oilers.
Ron relocated from Saskatoon to Foam Lake to be nearer to family and friends as he fought his battle against Parkinsons with great strength and determination. With the help and love of his dear friend and care giver Lorna; he realized his lifelong dream of owning, and living in his own home was fulfilled. In spite of Parkinsons, Ron tried to live as full a life as he was able to. Finally in July of 2023, due to deteriorating health, Ron became a resident of the Foam Lake Jubilee Nursing Home; where he resided until the time of his death on November 30, 2024 at the age of 68.
Ron was predeceased by his father Nick Chaykoski, mother Katie Chaykoski, and brother Michael Chaykoski. Left to celebrate his life are: brothers Terry (Delores) Chaykoski of Swan River, MB, Metro (Shelley Thoen) Chaykoski of Foam Lake, and his special friend Lorna Heistad of Foam Lake, as well as many aunts/uncles, cousins, nieces/nephews and good friends.
The Chaykoski/Rokochy families celebrated Ron’s life and times at a Family Memorial Graveside Service on December 11, 2024 at the Foam Lake Cemetery, Foam Lake, SK where Ron is laid to rest alongside his parents and brother.
