Obituary
Garnet Brian Yewsiuk went home to our Lord on Saturday, September 4, 2021 after unexpected complications of cancer treatment. He lived a life he absolutely loved right up to his last day. He loved and lived for the land and the Red Angus cattle he raised there with his loving wife of almost 37 years, Shirley. Together, they built up a purebred herd under the farm name of U6 Livestock, a herd he was extremely proud of. Garnet was born Jan. 17, 1963 in Lestock, SK. The day after completing high school he started working at Co-op Implements, which later became Wynyard Equipment. This is where he grew his natural talent for fixing equipment. He earned his Journeyman papers in Heavy Duty Mechanics, and it was a proud day when he went out on his own as Ag Tech Mobile Service. His knack for diagnostics and his incredible work ethic to do the best job he could, had him never needing to look for work, the work came to him. He enjoyed the challenges of fixing and enjoyed his customers. His customers and other business contacts had the utmost respect for him. He never had to use his last name- everyone knew "Garnet". Equipment- especially Deutz tractors and Gleaner combines came to him from all over the province and they were even trucked to him from other provinces. His expertise was known far and wide. There was no one that knew this equipment better. He was excited and proud to have son Evan join him in the shop in 2011. He loved every minute of being able to work side by side every day (and of course the coffee breaks too!). He loved the mechanic work but farming is what he loved the most. Garnet and Shirley started out on an acreage north of Wynyard where they were able to have a few cows. They then added a quarter of land north of Wishart which allowed for more cows, and when Shirley’s parents Walter and Anne Lalach decided it was time for them to sell, Garnet and Shirley jumped at the chance to move their family to their farm and keep building the cow herd. This farm was home to him right from the start and he was as proud as any of us when it was designated a Century Family Farm in 2018. He was the best Dad to Evan, Bethany and Eric. He always put them first and he never missed a school event or 4-H or Junior Angus show. He so proudly welcomed to the family Son and Daughter-In-Laws- Chad, Brittany and Erin. When the Grandkids started coming he was the best Gedo ever to Bohdan, Kix, Hallie, Kase, Ridge and Cadence. He so enjoyed seeing them loving livestock and farm life, and with Evan, Brittany and family 2 miles west, and Eric, Erin and family 4 miles east, these were his dreams fulfilled. Our family grew up extremely close to brother Nick, Sherry and their family. With kids all the same age, same lifestyle and interests, we did everything together. Many treasured memories were made. Like for most people, faith is a lifelong journey and became a very important part of Garnet’s life which he centered his life around, with St. John Bohoslow Ukrainian Catholic Church at Krasne being our spiritual home. Because of our faith, we know Garnet is now in a place far better. He will be so missed and his loss felt by all his and Shirley’s families, neighbors, friends and customers (who were all his friends too). Everyone he met immediately liked and respected him. His loss can never be filled. Vichnaya Pamyat. Funeral Mass 10:00 A.M.
