I lived with Guido, Baba and Irene when I was 10 years old attending school in Wynyard. Sometimes the boys would bully me when coming home from school. When Irene found out what was happening she threatened the boys and I never had any problems after that. Irene was my guardian angel. Will miss you Irene and the service was lovely. Irene was a very patient lady. She looked after your dad for years after his stroke until she could not manage alone any more. This alone is a great service not seen too often in this hectic age. But she grew up knowing these values so made it easier to continue the path.

My condolences to the family and friends of Irene. She was a truly remarkable woman in so many ways. Her welcome to the family home was always warm and open-hearted. She was funny. She would try anything, including x-country skiing on Mount Washington, BC when in her '70's. She was a stellar cook and quilter and she will be deeply missed. Rest in peace, Irene.

Aunt Irene seemed to live in a house with a big welcome and rubber walls: there was always room for one more. When our family from Ontario descended she just took us under her wing and put all of us to work as well. I think of her as the conduit to our family in Wynyard. Rest easy, Aunt Irene, you deserve it.
