Obituary
As per LaVerne's wishes there will be no funeral service held. LaVerne Carol Peshko (October 25th, 1945 to April 18th, 2020) LaVerne Carol Peshko of Margo, Saskatchewan passed away due to Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on April 18th, 2020 at the age of 74 years. LaVerne was the oldest child of David and Sonia Graham and born October 25th, 1945. Raised in the district of Nora, Saskatchewan with her two sisters and brother, LaVerne met Myron Peshko while both were working at Wadena, Saskatchewan and the two were later married at Stettler, Alberta on November 17th, 1962. By April 1963, Myron and LaVerne moved to Margo, Saskatchewan, started the business known as Western Agri-Motive and over the next few years, their family grew. Myron and LaVerne had three sons: Gregory, James and Jason. After Greg was born, the family relocated from Margo to an acreage on the edge of town in the RM of Sasman. She did the bookkeeping for the business and as her sons got older, LaVerne became more involved with the shop and eventually became a full-time member looking after the front desk while Myron and the boys worked in the back. LaVerne loved receiving visits from her family and Myron’s family at the acreage and was a tremendous and loving host. The acreage was a common stop for extended family members passing through or returning to the district and all were welcome at the farm for whatever time they wished to spend and their visits were always a highlight for her. LaVerne celebrated innumerable gatherings, birthdays and holidays at the acreage and spent hours in the kitchen in the days before a gathering to make sure everyone enjoyed the occasion. LaVerne enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, curling, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, baking, sharing recipes, attending auction sales and woodworking. LaVerne’s home was filled with mementos and keepsakes from her family’s lives including from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Amongst her various collections, she was particularly fond of her brass and coin collections. LaVerne loved the shop in Margo and seeing her customers who were often like extended family to her. She watched generations of families grow up in the community and always enjoyed updates about their lives and activities when they stopped by. She was always willing to listen to their stories or share an opinion on any topic over a coffee in the shop. While receiving chemotherapy treatments in Saskatoon, missing her friends and customers dearly, she would ask Jim for updates about them each day by telephone and would be comforted by their well wishes and cards. LaVerne is predeceased by her parents, David and Sonia Graham, and her husband, Myron Peshko. She is also predeceased by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, and cousins. She is survived by her son Greg and his children Amanda, Kristen, Shayla, Mackenzie; her son Jim and his children Britney and Skyler; and her son Jason and his wife Kim. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren Douglas, Niklas and Lukas; her siblings, Linda Einarsson (Ron), Leo Graham (Sheila), and Jackie Lazar (Gordon); and many loving nephews and nieces, and friends in the community.
