I don't remember much about Katie from when I was growing up but I am happy that I got to know her better after my parents (Tony and Marion Titanich) moved back to Wadena. When I think of Katie, certain vivid pictures come to mind. This tiny woman driving that massive car along main street, having to scoot in and out on the passenger side because the driver's door wouldn't open, and whenever she was a passenger herself reminding the driver to come to a full and complete stop at stop signs. I think of her digging hundreds of potato plants every year, in her garden and others; of her carrying a 35 pound cabbage home on the bus from Nipawin; of her toasting marshmallows around the fire at Dean's place last September, smiling and chatting at the kingdom hall where she never missed a meeting, and whatever she was doing, she always looked tidy and trim. She could not be accused of being lazy and she was a vibrant member of the "dream team" of merry widows in her congregation. Our deepest condolences go out to all of her family and to her beloved friends in the Wadena Congregation.
