Obituary
Memorial Service Monday, October 19, 2015 10:30 a.m. Wynyard Unitarian Church, Wynyard, Saskatchewan. William (Bill) John Curry was born on January 12, 1943 to Nathanial and Sarah Curry in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Bill passed away peacefully in his sleep on the night of October 12, 2015. It was unexpected. Bill was healthy and full of life during the preceding Thanksgiving weekend. Bill grew up in Winnipeg. As an only child, his extended family was dear to him - his paternal-Irish family in Winnipeg where he spent the school year and his maternal, Assyrian family in North Battleford where he spent many summers. Bill studied philosophy at United College (now University of Winnipeg) and Human Ecology (Masters) at the University of Saskatchewan. He was active on student council and volunteered overseas in Niger and Zambia. Since university he devoted his time to research, community development, health administration, and volunteering on countless boards, committees and initiatives. Bill was married to Dale Dewar for 47 years and together, they were known by many of their friends and family as "billendale". He dedicated his life to his family, community, peace, social justice and ecology. He loved his gardening, chopping wood, his home, worship in the Quaker tradition and the prairie sky. In turn, he was loved by many. Bill leaves to mourn his wife, Dale Dewar and children, Shauna, Ntara and Elizabeth (Erin Laing). The family would like to thank everyone for your love, compassion and support. In particular, we thank Erin Laing, our neighbors, the Wynyard Hospital Auxiliary and all those who made it possible for us to be together and who brought us food; and to the Copeland Cemetery and Narfason's Funeral Chapel for their care. Donations in memory of Bill can be made to either the Wynyard Hospital Auxiliary Canadian Friends Service Committee (CFSC). Donations for CFSC can be made online at http://quakerservice.ca/what-you-can-do/donate/ or sent to: Canadian Friends Service Committee, 60 Lowther Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M5R 1C7
