To all the family: My condolences on the passing of Elmer. We five (Stan and Louise ) Knafelc kids were so very fortunate to have Elmer as our bus driver! Other rural kids would complain about their drivers, and we never ever had reasons to do that! He was quiet and calm, but the few times he had to yell (I could count them on one hand...we were a fairly well- behaved group), you can bet WE LISTENED! Our school days started with a "G'morning" from Elmer to everyone of us as we stepped onto the bus. At Christmas, he gave all of us a unique gift...the same item to all
and somehow whatever he chose that year appealed to everyone of us, regardless of age. A unique man, indeed. And if an extra child was on the bus on that last day before Christmas break, he or she also got a gift. Our only complaint about this good man: We never missed school! He got us safely through the worst weather and roads. I can only imagine how many memories are being shared by all of you. Take care.
