Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Allan Gordon Cropper. He passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Allan was born in Naicam on March 30, 1939 to Gordon and Edith (nee Thompson) Cropper and raised on the family farm. He attended Byng School for his elementary education then continued on to Saskatoon Technical Collegiate. As a young man he spent some time working in Dawson Creek, BC, where he lived with his great uncle Fred and Marion and became lifelong friends with his cousins, June and Bud, and Freda and John. During his time he helped Uncle Fred build a house and worked with Ericson Electric as an electrician. He later returned to Naicam where he became a school bus driver and decided to get into the automotive business. On March 15,1963 Allan purchased Kitchen Motors in downtown Naicam. This is where Cropper Motors began. Allan was very passionate about his business. He built it up from a small old shop, with attached living quarters and a dirt basement, to the large and successful dealership it is today. It truly is the “Dealership that Service Built” and the personal relationship he had with many of his customers was very important to him. He became close with many customers as well as numerous employees and business colleagues he had over the years. He was known as a wise and honest businessman. Later, Allan was especially proud that all four of his boys chose to join the family business as well. On August 16, 1963, Allan married Mary Hirsch and together they had four sons. He was always very proud of his wife and children and their many accomplishments. They enjoyed sharing their bustling lifestyle together; raising four boys, operating an ever-growing business, welcoming grandchildren, enjoying many trips and having many laughs with friends and family. Allan was a very proud grandfather, always very interested in their many activities. Everyone looked forward to the phone calls or visits on special occasions. Sadly, Mary passed away on September 22, 2006 after 43 years of marriage. But Allan was fortunate enough to later find new happiness with Annchen Bodenstab of Tisdale in 2008. Originally from South Africa, Annchen moved to Canada with her husband Theo and family in 1984. They spent many joyous years celebrating life together until Theo later passed on in 2007. But from that loss eventually came a new union when Allan and Annchen were blessed to find one another and share many wonderful years together. They were married on October 8, 2016. This is when Allan welcomed 3 more sons and their families into his. Allan was fortunate to have spent many winters in Sarasota, Florida in his motor home; their home away from home. Together they would slowly make their way down to Florida, with many stops along the way to see the singers in Nashville and Branson and to visit many of their friends. Allan always looked forward to spending time with his brothers and sisters and visiting with numerous friends and acquaintances all over Canada and the United States. He was known far and wide. Allan also enjoyed numerous trips and vacations around the world. Allan was the most incredible man you would ever hope to meet. When one was first introduced to Allan, he was always very nice and polite, but you only had to spend a short time to find out what a truly remarkable man he was. He was never angry, jealous, or resentful. He always chose to be happy and never judge people. He was genuinely concerned with the wellbeing of his family, friends, neighbors and staff. Every day to him was just perfect and he was so appreciative of everything, especially his family and friends. He kept in touch with all of them. He really and truly loved life. He is survived by his loving wife Annchen Bodenstab; four sons, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Dennis (Laurie) of Melfort, their children Aimee (Sheldon Nadeau and children Layne and Hailey), Steven, Shelby (daughter Elizabeth), Michael (Amanda and children Jordan, Josh, Tyson, Lexus and Katana), Breanna Gerski (Lymen Sanderson and daughter Jaycia) and Bailey Gerski; Kevin (Karen) of Naicam, their children Sydney and Laura; Sheldon of Naicam; Robert (Tabitha) of Humboldt, their children Olivia, Reed and Graeme.Annchen’s three sons and seven grandchildren: Craig (Jenny) of Bermuda, their children Courtney and Sydney; Wayne (Raschelle) of Saskatoon, their children Teryk and Danyka and; Sean (Natalie) of Gronlid, their children Hannah, Avrielle and Chase. He is also survived by his step-mother, Greta Cropper, his brothers and sisters: Paul (Chris) Cropper, Eric (Dorothy) Cropper, Judy (Tim) Presber, Nola (Vern) Holtvogt, and step-sister Carol (Gerald) Bye; Brothers and sisters-in-law: Louise Hirsch (Wilma Keck), Ernst (Elvina) Hirsch, (Betty Hirsch), Joe (Jackie) Hirsch, Karen (Greg) Ingram and children David, Robert (Michelle Taylor) and Shawn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
